Dishcloth Dresses

Knitting for the Kitchen in time for Spring

Spring 2018 is less than 3 weeks away and Easter is only 4 weeks away. I should probably be doing some Spring cleaning but instead, I’m doing some Spring knitting.   I find that I enjoy sprucing up my kitchen as I dream of the warmer weather, blue skies, and blooming flowers. New dishcloths are part of my knitting.   Several years ago, I designed the Dressing for Spring Dress Dishcloth as a special edition dishcloth dress.  I change my dishcloth dresses often and especially with each of the seasons and holidays.

This knit dishcloth dress is not included in any of the collections.  I recently updated the pattern and it is available here.. Dressing for Spring has a lovely seed stitch accent in the skirt and fits your 10 oz dish detergent bottle.  I knit mine in a variety of spring colors.  Yellows, blues, and greens brighten the area near my kitchen sink.

Another special edition dress dishcloth is the Chick and Ducks Cloth.  This was also a special edition cloth and you’ll find the pattern in this blog post for Mother’s Day 2015.

So grab your favorite dishcloth cotton yarn and in a few hours, you can knit each of these dress dishcloths.

And stay tuned for an updated version of my 2012 Let’s Travel Collection.  I’ll be offering it as a hard copy in addition to the e-book as soon as I complete the pattern updates.  Let’s Travel includes 7 knit dishcloth dresses that I know you’ll have fun knitting.

  2. Debbie,
I love your dishcloth dress patterns! I made a bunch to go with my family gifts last Christmas. I am currently addicted to knitting with scrubby yarn, and a dishcloth dress with a scrubby component to it, maybe an apron would be great. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can incorporate scrubby yarn into your patterns?
    Thank you,
    Carolyn

    1. I’m so glad that you enjoy the dishcloth dresses. If you check on the Ravelry project pages, you’ll see a few that have incorporated scrubby yarn. One was knit using Going Dancing. The scrubby yarn was added to the stockinette rows of the skirt. Also check Instagram, the #dishclothdress has some other examples.

  3. Debbie, I have made several of the dishcloth dresses and have both of your books. Are you planning to publish any more books?
