Today’s knitting stitch pattern is called Inverness Diamonds from Barbara Walker’s Treasury of Knitting Patterns.
This was a fun and easy stitch pattern that repeats every 17 stitches and 12 rows. For this swatch, I cast on 51 stitches (3 pattern repeats) and knit the pattern 2 1/2 times. Once again, I used worsted weight yarn and a U.S. Size 7 knitting needles.
Can you envision this pattern as part of an afghan or maybe in a place mat for the dining table?
I’d love to hear from you with your thoughts on projects that would incorporate this stitch pattern.
I love this pattern, too. How difficult would it be to make the diamonds a contrasting color?
A contrasting color for the diamonds is definitely doable. Just means that you’ll need to carry the contrasting color on the wrong side of the piece.
