Although I have 3 sweaters on knitting needles at various stages of completion, I couldn’t resist casting on a new sweater for myself. Several months ago, I discovered Plymouth Yarn Cashmere de Cotone yarn.
I purchased 2 skeins in this lovely pale green without a project in mind. The yarn has a gauge of 5 stitches per inch on U.S. size 6 needles.
A few weeks ago, I discovered Kiba Light on Ravelry, a sleeveless cardigan that will be a wonderful addition to my wardrobe.
I sent for the printed pattern, went back to the yarn shop to get the additional skeins of yarn that I needed, and when the pattern arrived in the mail yesterday, I immediately cast on the stitches.
I hope this knits up as beautifully as I imagine. The pattern is very interesting. It is a seamless knit with the side stitches being picked up and knit. Since the pattern calls for an Alpaca and Silk mohair and I’m using a cotton yarn, I’m concerned about the drape of the yarn especially on the sides of the sweater. There are quite a few projects on Ravelry using different yarns so I’m cautisously optimistic that it will work out.
So, how adventurous are you when using a yarn that is different from the yarn that is used in the pattern that you choose?
