Welcome to 2017 and another Saturday of knitting stitch swatches. I started this last year as a way to challenge myself to become acquainted with different stitch patterns. I continue to be inspired by the simple patterns and this week is no different. I returned to Reversible Knitting Stitches. There are so many fascinating patterns in this book. I have 5 or 6 stitch dictionaries and continue to look for more. If you know of any, please let me know.
This is called Quaker Ridge and I love it.
This simple combination of knit rows and purl rows creates a wonderful texture. This is 3 repeats of the 12 row pattern. The first 12 rows are done in one color and then I decided to knit the stockinette section in the blue.
This swatch is knit on U.S. Size 7 needles using worsted weight yarn. I cast on 25 stitches making the swatch about 6 inches wide. The 12 rows is about 1 and a 1/2 inches long.
This is an ideal pattern for so many projects. I’m going to start with a dishcloth, possibly a pillow, and then even a baby blanket. Depending on the yarn and the color combination, I think it will knit up into a terrific project.
