Here is a knit lace pattern that is simple with only an 8 row repeat over 11 stitches. It is called King Charles Lace.
The center 11 stitches are the pattern forming a diamond shape with a curved outer edge. For my swatch, I cast on 25 stitches and worked a stockinette stitch over 5 stitches on each side and 2 stitch edging of garter stitch so it would not curl.
The photo is on size 7 needles using worsted weight yarn. Each square of the background is one inch. I repeated the pattern 3 times to give me a 4 inch length.
Now to decide what to design with this lovely lace insert. Maybe it belongs in a fancy washcloth, maybe part of the edge of a place mat for my dining table, maybe even as part of a nice blanket.
What would you use this stitch pattern to create?
