As winter settled in to the area, it was time for me to take a break and spend some time in my favorite Florida spot, Vero Beach. I try to go there at least twice a year but enjoy the winter visit the best. As always, my knitting accompanies me on my trip.
This trip project was a simple shawl knit with yarn that I purchased at Vogue Knitting Live the week before I left. I discovered a new yarn company, Apple Tree Knits. Her yarns are wonderful. When I saw this skein of yarn that went from yellow, to green, to blue I had to have it.

Here’s my shawl so far.
There is a Yarn Shop in Vero Beach called Knitty Gritty and I decided to visit it. I had been there once before when it first opened. When I arrived, I discovered that they had moved to a larger space and now had a wonderful selection of yarns, lots of patterns, and many finished items to inspire me.
First I found this lovely Universal Yarn Bamboo Blooms Handpainted. They had a simple ribbed cowl made up. I just love the colors of this yarn. It will knit up quickly on Size 9-11 needles.
They had so many other wonderful samples and when I saw the sample of Leftie by Martina Behm, I decided to purchase the white yarn for that too. I had some lovely sock yarn at home for the stripes. Leftie is on Ravelry and I’ve admired it many times. Here’s what I knit so far. I decided to eliminate of the leaves. They are too fussy for my taste.
So I now have knitting memories of this trip along with memories of beautiful weather and the sound of the ocean waves. Here’s a few of my favorite pictures of the trip.
