Yarn in my Travels

Knit Gloves

I just completed these knit gloves.

What makes them special is the yarn.

I discovered Spirit Trail Fiberworks  Sunna Yarn when I visited Rhinebeck last fall for the Sheep and Wool Festival.  The yarn is 75% superwash Merino/15% Cashmere/10% Bombay Silk and it is wonderful to knit.  The joy of knitting this project was enhanced by using my Knit Picks Harmony Wood 6 inch Double Pointed Needles.  These smooth needles and the soft yarn made this project work up quickly.

The pattern that I used is from the Ann Budd Handy Book of Knitting Patterns.  To add a little detail, I found these lovely buckles at my local craft store.

I knit a 6 stitch i-cord about 3 inches long, slid it through the buckle and sewed it to the back of the glove just above the ribbing.

So now that the weather is cold, my hands will be nice and warm and I have a wonderful souvenir of my first trip to Rhinebeck.

I’m also happy to tell you that I typed the pattern and have added it to my personal pattern notebook.  Now I have two glove patterns in addition to my favorite sock pattern in my personal pattern book.  I’m continuing to refine my pattern collection and create a notebook that will hold the patterns that I use the most.
