My stash of cotton yarn includes various colors of Sugar n Cream, Peaches n Creme, and Bernat worsted weight yarn. For the last 3 years, I’ve been trying to reduce that stash. I’m not sure how I accumulated so much cotton yarn except to say that the colors make me happy.Throughout the year when I’m in a mood, I like to buy a few skeins of brightly colored yarn and this yarn is super inexpensive.
I make tons of dishcloths and make and sell the dress dishcloths.
But now I’m determined to finish up this stash between now and Labor Day.
My first project is a granny square afghan. Here’s square number 1. It is a 7 inch square.
I have plenty of Bernat yarn in this turquoise color and I have a 1000 yard cone of white. I don’t crochet often but every once in awhile I enjoy stitching granny squares. Each one only takes a few hours.
In addition to all the dishcloths that I’m making, I decided to try a log cabin pattern to use as much of the different colored yarns that I can. Here’s what it looks like so far.
I’m really enjoying this. It may become an afghan or a throw rug to place on the carpet.
Working with these yarns is a fun and relaxing break from my other more complicated knitting and sewing projects. I tend to work on these late in the evening or first thing in the morning, leaving my other projects for the times that I can be more attentive to the details.
