I knit these fingerless gloves in December as a birthday present for a good friend of mine. I’m happy to say that she really likes them and that they are getting plenty of use.
These gloves were a joy to knit. They are knit on Size 2 1/2 (3.0 mm) double pointed needles which is a favorite size of mine. I use the 5 inch double pointed needles by Brittany and find that the knitting moves along at a nice pace with this length needle.
The yarn is Lang Superwash Sock Yarn. It’s a blend of wool and Polyamide that is machine washable and can be put in the dryer on low. I’ve used this yarn several times and always enjoy working with it.
The basket weave or “Woven” pattern is always fun to knit. I’ve used this stitch pattern to knit several blankets but this is the first time that I used it for gloves.
The pattern is featured in the One-Skein Wonders Sock Yarn book. This is a very good book for a variety of uses for sock yarn. I am planning to make several other items from this book.
I continue to work on several projects at once. Right now I have two afghans started and a wonderful cardigan that I’ll talk about in another post. There’s still several pairs of socks on the needles and I continue to work on doll clothes for my library exhibit in April.
And finally, I found a new podcast this week. It’s called Subway Knits. I listened to the first two episodes so far. Give it a try, it’s very well done!
